AnythingLLM: check your spreadsheet dates and where your providers run
How to inspect the collected date, compare it with the cell, and check where both model providers run.
The short version
AnythingLLM is an open source app for chatting with your documents, on desktop or in Docker, with the model provider of your choice. Before version 1.17.0 (released October 1, 2026), its collector read Excel dates as raw serial numbers. In the developer's own example, a cell showing 2024-09-30 reached the model as 45565, so a question about that date had nothing to match.
The fix makes the collector read date cells as the text the sheet shows. This guide walks through three checks: inspect the date AnythingLLM collected, compare it with the cell, and check where your chat and embedding providers run. I read the official pull request, release notes and docs for this; I have not run these steps myself.
