Explore OpenAI's 722 math papers without a math degree
The results worth knowing, how to check a Lean proof yourself, and a prompt that explains any paper in plain English.
The short version
OpenAI published 722 math papers, grouped into 372 result families, written by an unreleased internal model. The model was given about 4,000 open problems and spent about three hours of ChatGPT Pro thinking compute on each result. OpenAI kept the results that cleared its own bar for significance.
Read every result as a claim. These are preprints released on October 6, 2026. They haven't been through journal peer review, and OpenAI's own README says some results without Lean proofs could have issues. Some papers do come with Lean proofs, which a computer can check line by line. That's the part you can test yourself.
How I'd spend your first 15 minutes:
1. Skim the eight results in the table below.
2. Open one paper and paste it into the prompt in the "Explain any paper" section.
