OpenRig: run Claude Code and Codex as one team

A step-by-step setup guide with requirements, checks and common problems.

The short version

OpenRig is a free, open source tool that runs AI coding agents as a team instead of a pile of terminal windows. You describe the team in a YAML file, start it with one command, and watch every agent from a terminal dashboard. Claude Code and Codex can sit in the same team.

•What you need: a Mac or Linux computer, Node.js 22 or 24, tmux, and a working Claude Code or Codex login (or both).

•What you get: a two-agent starter team in your own repo. One agent owns the task, the other checks the exact result, and you don't relay messages between terminals.

•Before you run it: OpenRig writes hooks and trust settings into your Claude Code and Codex config. Read the "What it changes" section below and back those files up first.
