Install PhotoCraft and let Claude Code edit your images

Install the free Photoshop rebuild, open your first PSD, and connect its MCP server to Claude Code.

The short version

PhotoCraft is a free, open source image editor rebuilt from scratch in Rust to work like Photoshop: the same menus and shortcuts, layers, masks, adjustment layers, layer styles, type, vectors and brushes. It opens and saves real layered PSD files, runs offline, and needs no account. It's made by the ArtCraft team.

The part I care about: every menu item and tool is a command (more than 500 of them), and the same commands are exposed through an MCP server. So Claude Code can open a PSD, add adjustment layers, run filters and export, without you clicking anything.

I haven't stress-tested PhotoCraft on a real client project yet. Treat everything below as setup steps from the official docs, plus what I'd do first.
